The Conservancy
The Greens to Green Conservancy at the French-American School of New York (FASNY) is a proposal to transform the 130-acre former Ridgeway Country Club into a new White Plains campus and set aside most of the property (74 acres) as publicly accessible nature preserve, allowing public access to:
* Walking trails and other passive recreational use
* Habitat & wetlands restoration
* Bird watching blinds
* Educational opportunities
* A permanent open space for White Plains
* A new public space that was formerly private members-only
All of this is at no cost to the city of White Plains. It is funded, secured and maintained by FASNY and will be placed in a permanent and irrevocable conservation easement upon approval.
The School
For more than 30 years, The French-American School of New York (FASNY) has been providing a bilingual, bicultural French and American education to an American, French and international student population from Nursery to Grade 12 at three separate rented campuses in Scarsdale, Larchmont and Mamaroneck. This proposal would bring them to one unified campus, which would feature adaptive re-use of the existing club house as the Upper School plus the construction of a Nursery School, Lower School, Middle School and Performing Arts/Gym which would mirror the New England-style architecture of the clubhouse. All buildings would employ sustainable building practices.
The Status
The plan to build the conservancy and school need approval by Mayor Tom Roach and the Common Council. They need to hear your voice. It won’t happen without you.
