When it’s really nasty and cold outside, there’s hardly anything better than snuggling up on the sofa or in bed with a cup of hot tea, reading or watching a series. At work, too, tea must absolutely not be missing with me. Especially herbal tea feels really good now in winter.
However, my knowledge of herbs, especially tea, is quite modest. Therefore, I have turned to the Eco Park Hotel Azalea. Flowers and herbs are the specialty of hotel owner Manuela. In addition to the signature Azalea herbal blend, they also have several herbal blends from a herb fairy who runs her garden just a few miles from the hotel.
Sustainable herbal tea from your own garden
By the way, the marigolds you see in the picture above come from Azalea’s own garden. They are picked and dried in the summer so they can work their magic in the tea in the winter. Calendula flowers, for example (the yellow ones in the picture), relieve menstrual pain and have an anti-inflammatory effect. Mallow flowers (the blue ones) have a calming effect.
The herbal tea blends from Azalea – For your inspiration
Azalea: A blend of calendula and mallow, this is a calming blend perfect for cold winter evenings.
Rebel: Olive and raspberry leaves, monarda, pine needles, elderberries, red clover, calendula, cornflower and lemon balm sounds like a bold but mega delicious combination!
Warm Embrace: blackberry leaves, mint, lemon balm, mallow, cornflower, marigold, monarda and yarrow make for a unique flavor experience that warms not only body but soul.
In the Clouds: lemon balm, thyme, verbena, passion flower, lavender, sweet clover, marigold, cowslip, cornflower and strawberry leaves make this powerful blend super interesting.
Grow your own herbs
By the way, you can easily grow herbs at home on your windowsill. Mint, for example, is super frugal. Lemon balm also makes a delicious tea. Watch out, soon you’ll be making your very own herbal tea blends 😉
Oh, and a few last words about enjoying tea: reusable tea strainers or bags are the most sustainable. And it’s best to pour a whole pot and keep it warm on a teapot instead of boiling hot water over and over again.
