Three reasons for a (sustainable) siblings-only trip

You love each other, you hate each other: having siblings is not always easy. My brother and I have had our fair share of fights. But you still like them. Don’t you? But to go on a whole journey with them? A siblings-only trip?

What might sound absurd to you is something my brother and I did. We travelled around South Africa for two weeks and are still raving about it. | Cover Picture: ©ProsaClouds auf Pixabay

Maybe it doesn’t have to be 14 days, maybe a weekend will do for you and your siblings. But here are some reasons why you should definitely think about going on a trip with your sister*s or brother*s:

Reasons why you should travel with your siblings:

  1. You grow closer (or closer again).
Whether you get on well or have grown apart over the years, you will be closer after your trip (or weekend) together. The experiences and the intense time together make it possible.
  1. You finally have time to talk.
When was the last time you had a real conversation with your siblings? More than the usual “How are you doing?” When was the last time you had time for long conversations? Travelling and the train and car journeys are perfect for this!
  1. You get to know your siblings from a different perspective.
We all change over time. Our attitudes and lifestyles, our views and values. This is what you will notice about each other on a journey. Because let’s face it, weekend visits or family reunions do tend to make you fall back into your old roles, don’t they?

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your siblings and take that trip!
