The nature rooms at Hotel Klosterbräu are made from 95 percent local materials
In 2023, Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld opened 28 new rooms and wellness suites. Not only do they offer luxury (e.g. a private sauna) and a fantastic view, they also set new standards in sustainability. Around 95 percent of the materials used originate from Tyrol. Sustainable lampshades made from pressed hay
The Tyrolean company Organoid Technologies, developed a material using alpine hay. The hay is harvested by local farmers using traditional methods at an altitude of over 1,700 metres on the slopes of the mountain. The dried grass is then pressed into a variety of non-toxic composites at the Austrian plant, where it can be used to make lampshades, wallpaper and other decorative objects.
Organoid uses green electricity in its production and has won the Green Product Award and the Red Dot Design Award for its materials.
- Where to buy: There are several manufacturers of lampshades with Tyrolean hay flowers. For example, ‘Leuchtnatur’ or ‘ALMUT’ from Wildheim.
