When the Bavarian luxury hotel Der Birkenhof***** Spa & Genussresort recently underwent recertification by GreenSign, it achieved an impressive 95% of all sustainability requirements for the seal. Like all our Green PearlsⓇ partners, the hotel stands out for its wide range of measures, from e-charging stations to compostable coffee capsules – but the most important component is the “EnergyCube.”

“The EnergyCube is an intelligent system solution for self-sufficient energy supply with 180 kW of photovoltaics, two wood chip boilers (600 kW each), and a wood gasifier with 70 kW of electrical and 144 kW of thermal output,” says hotel employee Stephan Lieb, summarizing the miracle box.
