There are some vegetables that grow back again and again. You can grow new vegetables from many vegetable leftovers – a great way to reduce your own food waste!

1)  Spring onions

A very simple way to grow spring onions is to grow them in a glass jar. Place the lower 2-3 centimeters with the root in a glass with water and change it every couple of days. After about a week the plant will grow back and you can plant the onion in a pot with soil. By the way, this also works with leeks or lemongrass.

2) Fennel weed

You can easily regrow the fennel weed from the root of the fennel. Place the root in water and change it regularly. New fennel plants will grow from which you can make fennel tea or use it in soups and salads.

3) Ginger

When you let a ginger root sit for a while, sprouts will form. Break them off and plant them in a pot with soil. Leave the tip pointing upwards. Water the sprouts regularly and they will soon grow. You can begin harvesting the plant after a few months when the leaves are dead.
