On her travel blog Itchy Feet, Sarah Waltinger strives to bring a little tingle to her readers’ feet. Her stories from her travels will take you on virtual journeys round the world and inspire you to new adventures.
Moreover, in her blog posts, you can find not only tips on long-distance and European travel, but also thrilling locations right on your doorstep, and underrated travel destinations in Germany. Be it a houseboat trip on the Mecklenburg Lake District, a city trip to Marburg an der Lahn or cycling in the Sauerland.
A native of Mainz, Sarah launched her blog in 2012, when she fulfilled a long-cherished summer dream to spend time in Rome after graduating in anthropology and philosophy. She rented an apartment in a side street of the Campo dei Fiori, took an Italian class and a one-way flight to the Eternal City, and started blogging about her Dolce Vita for three months.
Since then, a lot has happened to Sarah and her blog. After her Rome trip, she worked for major daily newspapers as social media editor, where she gained experience writing captivating texts. At the same time, she honed her photography skills, and focused with her blog on sustainability. A respectful treatment of people, animals, and nature is very close to her heart, and she wants to sensitize readers to gentle tourism and slow travel without moralizing. In early 2017, Sarah took a significant step in her career. She ventured into self-employment and since then, has worked as a blogger and author for DuMont Reiseverlag – with passion, great attention to detail and a limitless enthusiasm. In 2019, she also launched the Rhein Main Blog with plenty of ideas for excursions, a food guide and handpicked tips for the region.
